We offer a large variety of leagues that accommodate a wide range of curlers. So, whether you’re a recreational player or someone competitive; if you’re 6, 106 or somewhere in-between, the Grande Prairie Curling Centre is sure to have a league suitable for you.
Monday Afternoon-Stick Curling
What is Stick Curling?
Simply it is like indoor floor curling, however it's on ice. The curling rock is delivered by a delivery device call a stick. This sport is a two-person team which can consist of two men, two ladies or it can be mixed. Both team members are engaged in the play, either delivering the rocks or skipping. Games are 6 ends and are completed in one hour, little sweeping, less strain on the back and knees.
This is a drop in league is $10 per week, every Monday from 1:30pm-3;30pm

Monday Night - Super League
The league is open to all curlers – juniors, mixed, ladies or mens.
League begins October 4, 2021 and concludes with the playoffs in March 2022. The Super League plays 8 ends and it is based on a point system for a win, loss or tie..
At the conclusion of the round robin, 2 playoff divisions are created with the teams split between the A pool and the B pool.

Tues/Thurs 55+ Drop In
This league is drop in with $5 per week. Once all players have arrived teams will be decided.
Join us for coffee in the lobby before the game and after, the Hi-Tech Shot Rock Bar & Grill will be open to enjoy one of our daily specials from our Executive Chef.

Jr High League(Grade 5-8) 430pm -6 end games
Sr High League(Grade 9-12) 600pm-8 end games
Both leagues are set to have schools and our local club teams particiate in an league.

Tuesday- Mixed Team
This league consists of teams of 4 players with combinations of both genders wanting to play in the curling season.
The teams are divided into divisions and the schedule is based on a point system for a win, loss or tie. The points tally at the end of each draw will determine a team’s placing for the season.
At the end of the regular season the team standings determine the seeding for the playoffs.

This league consists of teams of 4 female players wanting to play in the curling season.
The games are are played with a win, loss or tie and are 8 ends.

Wednesday Night - Men's
This league consists of teams of 4 male players wanting to play in the curling season.
The teams play 3- round robins at 7 games per round. It is based on a point system for a win, loss or tie. At the end of the 1st round robin, the team standings determine the seeding for the following round robin set. At the end of each round robin the top Teams from each pool will receive a prize.
Each player pays $20 into the Prize pool per year.

Sunday- Atco Energy Jr. Green (Beginners)
Junior Green
The Atco Energy Jr. Green program is designed for beginner curlers. This program is broken into two 6-week blocks. The first half consist of providing basic lessons on delivery, sweeping, turns, alignment, shots, positions, and basic game play, along with many other key points in learning to curl.
In the second half we continue to develop the skills learned in the first part of the year with new drills and activities but turn our concentration to basic strategy/alignment and shots.
By the end of the 13 weeks the curler will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Proper setup position.
- Ready, Set, Go delivery with handshake release, full slider, with and without rock. The sliding foot should be underneath the body with the hack foot trailing straight behind.
- Upright sweeping with no slider on a draw weight and takeout weight rock
- Ability to throw and distinguish different shots (guard, draw, hit)
- Able to throw an in-turn and out-turn, and able to identify shot called by skip’s signal.
- Basic shot calling with and without hammer
- Determine and properly post and score.
The program runs Sundays from 1pm-2:30pm

Sunday- Atco Energy Jr. Red (Intermediate)
Junior Red-2 plus years in program or experience
The Atco Energy Jr. Red program is designed for any curlers with either 2 years in the program or have 2 years min experience in curling. Must be able to demonstrate moderate knowledge of delivery, turns, sweeping, alignment, shots, positions, and game play.
This program will focus on fine tunning skills listed above with new drills and activities each week and learning new strategy to apply to game play. This program will be game play focused.
By the end of the 13 weeks the curlers will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Proper setup position.
- Ready, Set, Go delivery with handshake release, full slider, with and without rock. The sliding foot should be underneath the body with the hack foot trailing straight behind.
- Upright sweeping with no slider on takeout and peel weight, rock weight control on guards, house draws, hack weight, takeout’s and peels.
- Proper weight judgment including communication skills during sweeping
- moderate understanding of strategy and shot calling.
The program is Sundays from 1-3pm
